Tomorrow Is Another Day

On December 15, 1939, Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara came alive on the movie screen. From the very first moment, people fell in love with a movie about life in the Old South. Based on Margareth Mitchell's 1936 novel, it is a story of  a self-centered young woman who struggles to live through the American civil war, but  then loses the only man she loves.Clark Gable was everyone's choice to Rhentt Butler. Thousand of people sent letters to the movie studio saying that clark Gable was not interest, but he had t o   take the part because he had a contract at the studio. It was more difficult for Selznick to find a female lead.. Everyone tested for the part, from lucille Ball to Joan Crawford. A young British actress named Vivien Leigh was in Hollywood visiting her boyfriend, the famous actor Lawrence Oliver. Selznick's brother Myron was Oliver's agent. When Myron Selznick met Vivien Leigh. he knew immediately that she would be the ideal Scarlett O'Hara. So he developed a plan. He arranged for her to meet David O. Selznick. for the meeting she wrote a large hat and green eye shadow. Myron introduced her to Davvid as Scarlett O'Hara. She got the part. The movie won eight Academy Awards, including best picture, best performance by an actress (Vivien Leigh), and best performance by a supporting actress (Hattie McDaniel, the first African-American actor to receive an Oscar). The movie's spectacular sets, romantic costumes, and dramatic music make it as popular today as it was more than fifty years ago.
